Today’s fresh sheet:

Imagine if you will, that people began buying flowers in some of the same ways they have come to buy food.
Organic. Local. Seasonal.
Imagine that it became cool to pick what is in season, to align oneself through such choices with the cyclical rhythms of the moon and the sun, the seasons, having come to understand that there is magic and meaning to be found there.
Just imagine . . .

Can you?

Today in my garden: Grape Hyacinths (Muscari), Bluebells (Scilla), Snowflakes (Leucojum), and Bacchanal Bleeding Hearts (Dicentra formosa) served upon a bed of fresh grass sod.

  1. I am trying to inspire my clients to buy only local organic seasonal flowers… my favorite assembles. I feel it is coming soon. Love your garden bouquet and stunning photography!

  2. I am going to accept that image of the bouquet as an actual bouquet from you to me today because I really needed it. And it’s exquisite. Thank you. And you probably didn’t even know I needed it. I could use that and a Xanax and a dbl rhubartini. Weeks like this are not for the faint of heart or for amateurs.

  3. Thanks, ya’ll.
Carol, I feel it coming too.
MA, girl, Mary and I had the firstest rhubartinis of the season just the other day.  OK, actually, these were rhubartonics.  Vodka, tonic and the jugo’d barb.  With a bit of bruised mint.  Of course.  Shazzzzzaaaaaaammmmm!
I’m sorry to hear of your poopy week, and happy for you to accept the bouquet.  Please accept this cyber-hug as well.

  4. When I started planting roses 20 years ago on our property, I told my mother, I wanted to be able to cut vases and vases of them.  With the roses came all sorts of other flowers.  It was that desire to walk out my back door and gather flowers like an Austen character which made me do this.  Yes, I can imagine. I can, and now, I do.

    Sublime arrangement and photo BTW.~~Dee

  5. Dear David, you never cease to amaze and inspire me with the way you see the natural world and the plants it offers us. This is truly the most beautiful little “slice” of sod I’ve ever seen and the delicate, breathtaking, pure elegance of the arrangement…..well, I am humbled (as always) to witness your art.
    xoxo Debra
